VI ER NORDEN is the creation of a decolonizing ritual with, by and for the nordic population.
In the nordic countries we also traded human bodies across continents.
In the nordic countries we also divided families and countries in the name of civilization.
In the nordic countries we also prohibited language and cultural practice and conducted race biological research.
And we handled the collective scar tissue with silence. Daily we closed eyes and ears to the postcolonial traumas of Greenland and Faroe Islands, looked the other way when confronted with for the present colonization of Sápmi and kept reproducing the social positionings of the transatlantic slave trade.
VI ER NORDEN is the decomposition of the inherited choreographies of colonialism.
An invitation to let yourself be heard and embody your point of view. To move closer to one another. To test our willingness to chance.
The audience is guided between participation and observation in a collective space composed by soil, test tube chandeliers, golden animals and local plants. Through choreography, music, collective reading and staged conversations we move through the bodies inherited material of nordic colonialism.
The ritual travel through the colonial and postcolonial terrains of the Nordic Countries and make itself available as a performative situation in the local debates of decolonization.
VI ER NORDEN is a rhizomatic work opening in new konstellations and context and with a dynamic artist group constellation, always taking into consideration representation of local context and perspectives.
