The Bird Experience is a conceptual choreographic work and method which unfolded in 2022-2024 as a trans-national european communirt artwork, where five birds travelled to each their destination connecting people and local tales of grief through mutual live-streaming.
The european journey of The Bird Experience was created in collaboration between:
NextDoor Project (DK), The Symptoms / Tünet Együttes(HU), Northern Sustainable Futures (SE), Zita Dance company / Zita Omaga Sygchronou Chorou (GR) and Asociación Companiá Danza Vinculados (E) - as well as CKI (Center for Kultur og Interkultur).

The Bird Experience is based on the concept 'SorgFugl' created by NextDoor Project in 2020 during the pandemic. The bird is developed in collaboration between puppet-maker Annette Asp Christensen and choreographer Ingrid Tranum Velásquez and created to interact and fusion the bird amd human bodies in one image.
The bird is a symbolic creature and facilitator, who with socio-poetic realism moves into society - citizens, institutions and community spaces, where sensations of grief need a space to unfold.
Through the bird we invite citizens of all ages into a realm where grief can be expressed intuitively and spontaneously in a visual and choreographic language. Through the presence of the bird grief can be carried. Faced. Surrounded. Fought against. Embraced.
The bird has since its bith in 2020 been unfolded within:
Creative Europe, Riddersalens Sorgfestival and Medborgerhuset på Nordens Plads, KU.BE., Diakonissestiftelsen, Welcome House Nørrebro, Plejehjemmet Slottet i De Gamles By.
